A television series based on the DC Vertigo comic book series Survivors’ Club by novelist Lauren Beukes, journalist Dave Halvorsen and artist Ryan Kelly is currently in development at The CW.

Deadline reports the show will be will be written by Jared Frieder (Sweet/Vicious, Chasing Life). Frieder will also produce alongside Len Goldstein (Powerless, Hart of Dixie).

First published by Vertigo Comics in October 2015, Survivors’ Club takes place in a world where horror monsters and urban legends are real and revolves around twin siblings Jason and Jennifer, who narrowly survived a demonic possession in the 1980s that killed their mother and severely damaged their relationship.

A decade later, the two are forced to reunite and team up with other teenage horror story survivors in order to push back against a new evil force that has awakened to wreak havoc on the world.

Survivors’ Club will be the latest Vertigo comic to be adapted into a live-action television series, with previous examples including NBC’s Constantine, which ended after one season; The CW’s iZombie, which is gearing up for its fifth and final season; Lucifer, which is moving from Fox to Netflix; and AMC’s Preacher, which recently concluded its third season.

Additionally, Survivors’ Club will join the plethora of other DC television series currently airing on The CW, such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning.
