Season Five Directors Named for Game of Thrones

- in Game of Thrones

The list of directors for season five of Game of Thrones was recently announced and there are many faces that are new to the series. Of the five directors, only David Nutter has ever directed an episode of Game of Thrones. Nutter, who also directed the pilot episodes of The Flash, and Arrow, directed the “Red Wedding” episode of Game of Thrones and will return this season to direct two episodes.

Each of the other four newcomers to the series will direct two episodes as well. Among the newcomers who will direct Game of Thrones episodes this season are Michael Slovis, who directed episodes of NBC’s Law & Order SVU, and Jeremy Podeswa, who is a veteran of HBO series such as Boardwalk Empires.

While new directors often bring new life to a series and offer a different perspective, the newcomers may find that the likes of directors such as Alex Graves, Neil Marshal, Dan Weiss, and David Benioff are indeed a hard act to follow.
