Upcoming Marvel movie Ant-Man will put one of the company’s most loved comic book franchises to film, but are all the main characters going to make the cut?
Apparently Janet Van Dyne will not, as teased by Michael Douglas at a recent cast panel. Douglas will play Hank Pym, a scientist who discovers a serum to allow humans to shrink to ant size, while maintaining their strength.
Michael revealed that a tragic accident happened with his characters wife (Van Dyne), which opens up opportunities for his on screen daughter, Hope Van Dyne to play as a screen adaptation of both the Red Queen, and The Wasp.
In the comic book universe, Hank Pym’s daughter inherits the powers of her mother. This means that Hope Van Dyne (played by Evangeline Lilly) may have powers that include shrinking to ant size, growing to larger than human size, and maybe even flying with insect-like wings.
Of course this is all speculation, and we won’t know all of the details until July 17 next year when Ant-Man hits movie theaters.
