Although the most recent incarnation of Tom Clancy’s long-running character — 2014’s “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” — underwhelmed audiences, Amazon has decided to give the spymaster another shot at redemption with a new 10-episode streaming series starring “The Office” alum John Krasinski, who sharpened his action skills in this year’s “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”

Simply titled “Jack Ryan,” THR has reported that the show — officially greenlit over a year after it was first announced to be in development — will follow the CIA operative “as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.” The newest take will be written and developed by Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “The Strain”) and Graham Roland (“Almost Human”), and is a co-production of both Paramount and Skydance Television.

“Jack Ryan” will mark the title character’s first time on the small-screen after five films starring Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine in various turns in the role. There’s no indication yet on when the show is targeted to debut.
